Yuya Nakamura enters his first year as an assistant athletic trainer at Texas A&M University-Commerce Sports Medicine.  Nakamura currently works on a day-to-day basis with the Lions' Volleyball and Women's Basketball team.

Nakamura spent last three seasons at University of South Florida as a graduate assistant athletic trainer and mainly working with men's soccer team, having the opportunity to work the NCAA Division I championship tournament.  He also served as an intern athletic trainer at Campbell University Athletic Training Department and primary covered men’s soccer team with other spring sport duties in the 2008-09.

Nakamura is originally from Hiroshima, Japan, where he earned a bachelor degree in Sport Science at Chukyo University. He came to the United States where he attended High Point University in NC, earning B.S. degrees in athletic training and exercise science in 2008 and received his Master of Arts in Exercise Science from University of South Florida in May of 2011.

Nakamura has been an active member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and certified athletic trainer by NATA and licensed in the state of Texas.
