Austin, Texas – Former men's basketball standout
Devondrick Walker started training camp as one of 16 players with the NBA D-League team the Austin Spurs.
Walker, who scored 897 career points in three seasons with the Lions for an average of 10.7 points per game, is one of 16 players attempting to make the 10-man roster for the Austin Spurs. Training camp for the Spurs opened Monday afternoon. The preseason camp will last 10-days. If Walker does not catch on with the Spurs he is still under contract with the league and could be picked up by other teams.
Walker came to A&M-Commerce after a year at Northwest Oklahoma State. Arguably his best season came in the 2013-14 year when he averaged 13.6 points per game 48 percent from the field and 43 percent form behind the three-point arc. He was a career 43 percent shooter overall and 40 percent from long range.
