Commerce, Texas – A&M-Commerce softball head coach Richie Bruister announced a change in the Lions fall schedule with the team's Homerun Derby Fundraiser moving to October 30 at 6:30 p.m. in addition to the three doubleheader fall play dates.
 
The Lions will hold their Homerun Derby Fundraiser with a unique format allowing donors/contestants to be paired with a Lion softball player.  The opening round will have split into two teams with the winning team advancing following seven swings off of front toss. The semifinals will consist of four players and four contestants with five swings each.  The final round will have the top two players and contestant duo competing for the title with five swings each. 
 
The derby is limited to 21 participates and prizes and trophies will be award to the champion.  The cost is $25 per player and a minimum of one cent per foot of the softball player's longest home run.
 
All proceeds for the event will go to an indoor batting cage facility.
 
Coach Bruister conjointly announced the three fall home play dates for the Lions that will include doubleheaders against Northeast Texas Community College, Weatherford College and Paris Junior College.
 
The Lions will host Northeast Texas Community College on Friday, October 9 for a twinbill at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.. Seven days later, Weatherford College comes into the John Cain Family Softball Field for a doubleheader on Friday, October 16 for a doubleheader set for 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.  The final two-game set during the fall will be a doubleheader against Paris Junior College on Friday, October 23 also at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
