EVENT CHAMPIONS
The Lions picked up three individual championships in field events in Saturday's action.
Hudson Hall won the gold medal and set the school record in the pole vault, clearing the bar on his second attempt at 5.11 meters (16-9 ¼). He became the first Lion to ever clear over five meters and he now owns the sixth-best mark in Division II this season.
Hall was one of five Lion men to place in the top eight in the pole vault, as the Lions earned 24 points in that event alone.
Hailey Wanoreck set an LSC Championship meet record in the women's weight throw with a toss of 17.42 meters (57-2) on her third attempt.
Anitial'a Robins earned the silver medal with a throw of 17.21 meters (56-5 ¾),
Joseph Brown earned the championship in the men's weight throw with a toss of 18.91 meters (62-0 ½). That mark is the 16
th-best in Division II this season.
OTHER SCHOOL RECORDS
Julia Seigerroth set two school records on the way to a third place finish in the women's pentathlon. In the first event of the multi-discipline, Seigerroth notched a time of 8.54 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles, which beat her own record. She would earn 3,392 points in the pentathlon, which bested the previous school record by over 100 points and is a provisional qualifying mark.
In the qualifying rounds of the men's 200 meter dash, freshman
Jude Christine set the school record with a time of 21.37 seconds.
OBST DOMINATING IN HEPTATHLON
Senior
Florian Obst has a commanding lead in the men's heptathlon through four events. His score of 3,169 points is a lead of nearly 300 points with three events remaining (60 meter hurdles, pole vault, and 1,000 meter run).
He is on pace to break his own LSC and school record. Of the four completed events, Obst had the top mark in three – the 60 meter dash, long jump, and shot put.
Robert Wood is in third place in the event.
EN MASSE IN THE FINALS
The Lion men's sprinters are certain to rack up points in the 200 meter dash and 400 meter dash Sunday, as A&M-Commerce advanced five runners in the 400m and four runners in the 200m.
Behind Christine's school record of 21.37 seconds in the 200m was
D'lance Sharp at 21.42, which was also faster than the previous school record.
Malcolm Woods qualified fifth at 21.58 seconds, and
Devon Sanders qualified eighth at 21.68 seconds.
In the 400 meters,
Dedrian Windham was the top qualifier at 47.72 seconds and LSC record holder
Rashard Clark qualified third at 47.94 seconds. Christine qualified fourth at 47.99 seconds,
Gabriel Peterson qualified fifth at 48.39 seconds, and
