COMMERCE– Texas A&M University-Commerce utility player
Kinsie Hebler has been named the Fastpitch News Division II National Player of the Week. The award was announced Tuesday. Hebler is the second Lion to be named National Player of the Week this season.
Hebler– a sophomore from Cypress, Texas– had an offensive explosion last week in three games against Western New Mexico. She hit .786 with 11 hits, five home runs, a grand slam and 19 RBIs. She had two three-run home runs and an RBI single in the first game against WNMU. She then had two two-run homers and two RBI singles in the second game. In the final game of the series, she hit a grand slam and had two more RBI singles. 10 of her 11 hits scored runs. Hebler is third in the LSC in batting average, third in RBIs, fifth in slugging and fifth in on-base percentage.
Hebler and the No. 14 Lions are currently 35-5 on the season after sweeping Western New Mexico last week. The Lions return to action on Friday as they host No. 6 Angelo State for a three-game series. The teams will play a doubleheader on Friday starting at 4 p.m. and a single game on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. All games will be played at the John Cain Family Softball Complex. Admission is free for all three games of the series with a local ID. It is the final home games of the regular season for the Lions.
