Opening Tip
A&M-Commerce closes out its short two-game homestand Tuesday, December 13, hosting Southern Arkansas at the Field House at 7 p.m. The game against the Muleriders marks the final home game for the Lions in the 2011 calendar year.

Series Information: A&M-Commerce and Southern Arkansas meet for the 33rd time Tuesday with the Lions holding a 19-13 lead in the all-time series, including having won seven-straight against the Muleriders, dating back to the 2004-05 season. A&M-Commerce defeated Southern Arkansas 60-57 in the season opener on Nov. 17 as the Lions rallied from a first half deficit to earn the victory, led by 13 points and eight rebounds from Desmond King and 14 points and seven boards from Preston Whitley. A&M-Commerce has also won the last 10 meetings between the two at the Field House.
Whitley Provides Spark Off The Bench For Lions
Junior Preston Whitley has proven to be an effective spark off the bench for A&M-Commerce, ranking third on the team in both points per game (9.5) and rebounds per game (4.2). Whitley has recorded double-digit point totals in four games this season, including a season-best 19 points with eight rebounds against Drury on December 10. Whitley also led the Lions with 14 points and seven rebounds in the season-opening victory at Southern Arkansas while finishing with 13 points in the victory over Arkansas-Fort Smith.
Looking Ahead
A&M-Commerce heads to Austin for the 2011 St. Edward's Classic. The Lions open up the Classic facing Harding on Sunday, December 18, at 6 p.m. A&M-Commerce then meets up with Henderson State on Monday, December 19, for a 2 p.m. tip-off. The games mark the Lions' final games of the 2011 calendar year as A&M-Commerce will be off until after the New Year, resuming the 2011-12 Lone Star Conference season at West Texas A&M on Wednesday, January 4. The Lions' next home game will be against Eastern New Mexico on Saturday, January 7, at the Field House.
