LIONS SEASON ENDS IN ALLEN FOLLOWING 92-84 LOSS TO MUSTANGS
ALLEN, Texas – A&M-Commerce gave everything it had against top-seeded Midwestern State, battling even with the Mustangs through the first 20 minutes. But a dominant second half for MSU proved to be the difference as the Lions’ season ends in Allen following a 92-84 loss to the Mustangs in the LSC quarterfinals.

ANDREW DAVIS REPEATS AS LSC ACADEMIC PLAYER OF THE YEAR
ALLEN, Texas – A pair of Lions have been recognized by the Lone Star Conference at the annual LSC Basketball Championship banquet, held Tuesday evening in Allen. Senior forward Andrew Davis has been named the conference’s Academic Player of the Year for the second time while senior forward Preston Whitley was named an honorable mention All-Lone Star Conference selection.

A&M-COMMERCE RETURNS TO POSTSEASON FACING FAMILIAR FOE
A&M-Commerce returns to the postseason for the ninth-straight time, making the short trip to the Allen Event Center for the 2013 Lone Star Conference Basketball Championship. The Lions are the #8 seed and will meet up with an all-too-familiar opponent in top-seeded Midwestern State in the LSC quarterfinals on Wednesday, March 6 at 8:30 p.m.

LIONS FALL TO GREYHOUNDS, 88-85; CLINCH EIGHT SEED IN LSC TOURNEY
PORTALES, N.M. – A&M-Commerce rediscovered its scoring touch, but unfortunately ran into an equally potent offensive attack as Eastern New Mexico outlasted A&M-Commerce to take an 88-85 victory in the season finale at Greyhound Arena. The loss is the fourth-straight for the Lions, who fall to 14-14 on the season and 7-11 in Lone Star Conference play.

A&M-Commerce closes out the 2012-13 regular season with a pair of games against opponents it is battling for seeding come postseason time. Down the stretch it was the Lions that made the key shots when it counted, holding off the Javelinas 77-70 at the Field House.

A&M-Commerce falls to 10-6 on the year and 3-3 in Lone Star Conference play while Cameron improves to 9-5 overall and 5-3 in LSC action.

WALKER NOTCHES 202ND CAREER WIN IN 74-66 DEFEAT OF MIDWESTERN STATE
COMMERCE, Texas – A&M-Commerce head coach Sam Walker has seen his share of memorable victories on the Lion sidelines. But Wednesday night at the Field House will go down as one of the most memorable as Walker saw his Lions claw back from a double-digit first half deficit to topple reigning Lone Star Conference champion Midwestern State 74-66, giving him his 202nd career victory and surpassing Jim Gudger as the all-time winningest coach in A&M-Commerce history.

ABILENE, Texas – A&M-Commerce looked in control in the waning minutes against Abilene Christian, building a 10-point lead with two minutes remaining in the game. But after a furious Wildcat rally, a critical jumper by Tyrie Wooten with two seconds left lifted the Lions to a 90-88 victory in its 2012-13 Lone Star Conference opener. Texas A&M University-Commerce released its 2012-13 men's basketball schedule today with the Lions facing another challenge heading into the season. The slate consists of 28 games, including 12 at the Field House, as head coach Sam Walker's team strives to build on the momentum gained at the conclusion of 2011-12.
