LEASOR SHOOTS 65 OVER FINAL ROUND TO CAPTURE LION INVITATIONAL TITLE

Lion Fall Invitational Final Results

THE COLONY, Texas – Chris Leasor had a round to remember, posting a 7-under 29 over the back nine holes at the Tribute Golf Club en route to a career-low 7-under 65 over the final round of the 2011 Lion Invitational. Leasor wrapped up the 36-hole event with a 10-under 134, capturing the individual title as A&M-Commerce places fifth at the season-ending tournament.

Leasor entered the day tied for third after posting a then-season-low 3-under 69. After playing even through the first nine holes, he went to work on the back nine, shooting birdies on the first four holes and finishing with seven birdies over the final nine, sealing the career-best 7-under 65. It is Leasor's second career individual championship after tying for first at the 2011 Pepsi Crawford-Wade Invitational.

Freshman Marcus Sanna posted a two-day total of 4-over 148, finishing tied for 26th in the individual standings. Fellow freshman Kyle Middleton was one stroke back with a 5-over 149, finishing tied for 30 th while Cade Grimm and Patrick Russo were in the hunt as well, posting a 6-over 150 to tie for 34th overall.

Scores were typically higher across the board as winds were higher than they were yesterday. A&M-Commerce's "A" team, anchored by Leasor, moved up one spot from sixth, posting a 5-over 298 to leapfrog Incarnate Word into fifth with a two-day total of 8-over 584, holding off the Cardinals by four strokes.

Commerce's "B" team struggled over the final 18 holes, shooting a 332 to finish 11th with a two-day total of 56-over 632. Middleton and Grimm anchored the Lions, making a name for themselves in their first home tournament.

Central Oklahoma continued its dominance of the fall season, capturing the team title for the fifth consecutive tournament with a 17-under 559. The Bronchos held off Midwestern State (11-under 565) by six shots while finishing eight ahead of third-place Dallas Baptist (9-under 567). Cameron checked in at fourth with a 5-under 571 for the 36 hole tournament.

A&M-Commerce has now wrapped up the fall season and will have some time off before gearing back up in the spring. The Lions will once again serve as hosts in their next event, hosting the Pepsi Crawford-Wade Invitational at Tanglewood Resort in Pottsboro, Texas, Feb. 27-28, 2012.
