TRIO OF LIONS RECEIVE ALL-LONE STAR CONFERENCE ACCOLADES

2012 All-Lone Star Conference Awards Release

TROPHY CLUB, Texas – A trio of Lion golfers earned All-Lone Star Conference honors at the conference award banquet Sunday night on the eve of the 2012 Lone Star Conference Golf Championships.

Sophomore Chantry McMahan was named second team All-Lone Star Conference, adding to her resume after being named an honorable mention selection in 2011. McMahan has played in all nine tournaments for the Lion women, compiling a team-best 78.65 scoring average while notching four top-10 and an additional top-20 finish on the year.

On the men's side, freshman Marcus Sanna was tabbed an honorable mention Lone Star Conference selection. The LSC's Golfer of the Week on April 4, Sanna ranks second among the A&M-Commerce men with a 75.82 scoring average, including a career-low 4-under 67 at the California Baptist Spring Break Collegiate en route to capturing the individual title.

A&M-Commerce also was among those recognized for their work not just on the course but also in the classroom as sophomore Sara Diaz was named a member of the Lone Star Conference All-Academic team. Diaz, who is majoring in marketing, ranks second on the Lions with an 81.18 scoring average and has notched four top-20 finishes on the year, highlighted by her 11 th-place showing at the UCO Broncho Classic.
