LIONS CLOSE OUT RYAN PALMER INVITATIONAL WITH 11TH-PLACE SHOWING

AMARILLO, Texas -- A&M-Commerce slid back two spots over the final 18 holes of the Ryan Palmer Invitational, posting an 18-over 302 in Tuesday's final round to close out the 54-hole tournament with a 33-over 885 at Tascosa Country Club.

C.J. Clem was the top A&M-Commerce finisher for the second-straight tournament, posting a 4-over 75 in round three to finish with a 4-over 217, just missing his third top-20 showing in as many tournaments. clem finished two shots better than teammate Patrick Russo, who matched Clem over the final round with a 4-over 75 and tied for 27th overall with a 6-over 219.

Cade Grimm remained consistent, logging a 5-over 76 over the final 18 holes to card an 11-over 224, finishing among the top-50 in a four-way tie for 46th overall. Kason Childress notched a 14-over 227 with Seth Maxwell rounding out the Lion scorecard with a 39-over 252.

A&M-Commerce entered the day within striking distance of a top-five finish, but extra shots scattered throughout the course added up as both Incarnate Word and West Texas A&M leapfrogged the Lions in the team standings. A&M-Commerce finished seven shots back of the 10th-place Buffs (26-over 878) and eight strokes behind both Incarnate Word and Midwestern State (25-over 877) who tied for eighth.

Colorado School of Mines used an even-par 284 to slip past Colorado State-Pueblo and capture the team title, finishing with a 4-over 856 and besting the ThunderWolves (5-over 857) by one stroke. St. Mary's (6-over 858) also remained in the hunt, finishing two shots back of first with Abilene Christian (12-over 864) placing fourth and St. Edward's and UC-Colorado Springs (15-over 867) finishing tied for fifth.

After competing in tournaments in each of the past four weeks, A&M-Commerce will get a week off before returning to action at the Brian Williams Memorial hosted by St. Mary's October 22nd and 23rd. The 54-hole tournament will take place at Dominion Country Club with rounds one and two taking place Monday, Oct. 22 leading up to the final round on Tuesday, Oct. 23.
