13 LIONS POST TOP-FIVE FINISHES AT OKLAHOMA BAPTIST BISON OPEN

SHAWNEE, Okla. -- A&M-Commerce made a last minute change to the schedule, opting to compete in the Oklahoma Baptist Bison Open and made the most of its trip to Shawnee. 13 different Lions finished among the top-five in nine different events, including a pair of first-place finishes.
A&M-Commerce's quarter-milers proved to be the highlight of the afternoon for the Lions, led by a first place finish by Ernest Rickett in the 400 meter dash (48.64) and Demetrius Holmes in the 400 meter hurdles (54.69). Both times set new season-lows for A&M-Commerce in their respective events.
EJ Skinner (49.59) and Kevin Garcia (50.08) each finished among the top-five in the 400 meter, placing fourth and fifth respectively, while Hank Smith posted a runner-up finish to Holmes in the 400 meter hurdles, notching a career-best time of 56.00. John David Rollins also recorded a runner-up finish, placing second in the 100 meter dash with a team season-low time of 10.75.
A&M-Commerce's distance runners had a strong showing as well, led by Everett Wilder placing third in the 10,000 meter run (33:42.95), just ahead of teammate Alex Kimp, who placed fifth (34:27.43). Chris Douglas notched a top-five showing as well, placing fifth in the 800 meter run (1:56.33).
The Lions' throwers and jumpers also made sure they were well represented among the A&M-Commerce top-five as James Lundy and Anthony Harris each finished fifth in their respective events. Lundy tied for fifth in the high jump (1.78 meters) while placing fifth in the javelin (43.68 meters) while Harris notched the Lions' best showing in the long jump (6.65 meters). Daniel Dia rounded out the afternoon with a runner-up performance in the discus (46.50 meters).
Up next for A&M-Commerce is a trip across the 380 to Denton, competing in the North Texas Mean Green Twilight this coming Saturday, April 7. Competiton gets underway Saturday afternoon, with full results being posted as they become available at LionAthletics.com.
