2012 North Texas Mean Green Spring Invitational Results (PDF)
DENTON, Texas – A number of season-low marks were set as 12 A&M-Commerce athletes finished among the top-10 in eight different events at the 2012 North Texas Mean Green Spring Invitational at Fouts Field.
A&M-Commerce's field competitors once again had a solid showing, highlighted by a runner-up finish by Matt Rich in the javelin, hurling a season-best 48.31 meters. Daniel Dia also posted a top-10 finish among the throwers, placing eighth in the discus with a throw of 44.50.
Khalil Henry notched his fourth top-five finish of the year in the high jump, posting a mark of 1.88 meters, finishing just ahead of teammate Devontrius Farmer, who placed eighth with a showing of 1.78 meters. John David Rollins highlighted a productive day, setting a new career-best with a 6.93 meter showing in the long jump, finishing seventh.
The success carried over to the track as well, especially among the A&M-Commerce distance runners. Fredrick Kipsang shattered the previous season-low in the 800 meter, posting a time of 1:53.43, placing fifth out of 53 competitors. In the 1500 meter run, Ross Hicks notched a seventh-place showing out of 57 competitors, recording a season-best time of 4:02.69.
A&M-Commerce had a strong showing in the 400 meter dash as three Lions placed among the top-10, led by Adam Gary's sixth-place showing (49.14). He was joined by teammates Joel Day (49.21) and Elijah Burwell (49.22), finishing ninth and 10 th respectively. Demetrius Holmes and Hank Smith rounded out the top-10 performers for the Lions, finishing ninth (56.37) and 10 th (56.50) respectively in the 400 meter hurdles.
The season enters the home stretch as the Lions return to the track this coming Friday, heading over to Tyler to compete in the UT-Tyler Marc Randle Classic on Friday, April 13. Full results will be posted as they become available at LionAthletics.com.
