Commerce, Texas – The A&M-Commerce men's track and field team started this with an impressive showing in their first time out on a cold and windy day at Memorial Stadium.
The men swept the podium in the 200m with Ravi Dubose winning (22.12), Adam Gary getting second (22.23) and John David Rollins securing third (22.31). Dakota Fountain and Anthony Harris also scored points for the Lions in the 200m. Erik Williams finished third overall in the third overall in the 400m with a 49.94.
Dorian McCradic won the 800m with a time of 1:57.52. The Lions also placed fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh in the 800m. Tyler Hemenway continued the winning trend with his win in the 1500m posting a 4:09.62 that time was 3.5 second clear of the field. Everett Wilder finished second in the 5k with a 15:27.93.
Avion Stewart and Matt Rich finished one-two in the 110m hurdles. Stewart had a 14.44 a full second faster than Rich and the rest of the field.
The Lions also swept the podium with their three teams in the 4x400m relay. Joel Day, Dubose, Charles Powell and Williams were part of the winning team with a time of 3:17.42.
A&M-Commerce did well in the field events as well. Anthony Harris won the long jump with a 7.27m jump and John David Rollins was third at 7.17m. James Lundy was one of two men to clear the high jump. Daniel Dia finished third in the discuss with a 46.85m through. Dia also finished third in the hammer. Matt Rich finished second in the javelin with a 53.2 meter throw.
The Lions return to the track next week in Stephenville, Texas at the Tarleton State Invitational.
