A&M-Commerce Drops 73-55 Decision to Central Oklahoma

The Texas A&M
University-Commerce women’s basketball team dropped a 73-55
decision to Central Oklahoma on Wednesday night at the
A&M-Commerce Field House.
The two teams exchanged leads through the opening 5:45 of the game
until the Bronchos’ Christina Yarbrough hit a 3 pointer to
put the visitors ahead by a 13-11 margin.
Central Oklahoma remained in the lead until an A&M-Commerce
scored six-straight points to tie the game at 28 with 3:12 left in
the first half. The Bronchos’ Traci Murphee hit the first of
two free throws and Brianne Grisham hit a jumper to regain the lead
and they remained in front for the remainder of the contest.
To start the second half, UCO went on a 15-2 run to put the game
out of reach for the Lions. In the second half, the visitors shot
at a 47.1% clip from the field and held A&M-Commerce to just
31.3%, including 2-for-11 shooting from beyond the 3-point line en
route to the win.
Yarbrough scored a team-high 16 points as visiting Central Oklahoma
raises its record to 13-5 overall and 4-1 in the LSC North. She was
joined in double digits by Ashley Beckley, who added 13 in the
win.
A&M-Commerce (4-13, 1-4 LSC North) had three players in double
digits as Mattilyn McIntyre led the Lions with 16 points. Ashley
Murphy and Tiffany Mitchell each had double double performances in
the loss. Murphy had 13 points and 11 rebounds and Mitchell scored
10 points and had 11 rebounds.
The Lions will next take to the road to face Texas Woman’s on
Saturday in Denton at 2 p.m.
