A&M-Commerce returns to action following the Christmas break, ringing in the new year with a pair of Lone Star Conference matchups. The Lions open up 2013 hosting Incarnate Word at the Field House Wednesday, January 2, tipping at 5:30 p.m. A&M-Commerce then heads south for a showdown with Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday, January 5, getting underway at 1 p.m.

Ring in the New Year With the Lions Wednesday
Come celebrate 2013 with A&M-Commerce as the Lions open up the calendar year with a doubleheader against Lone Star Conference opponent Incarnate Word on Wednesday, January 2. The women tip off at 5:30 p.m. with the men getting underway at approximately 7:30. In honor of the new year, as well as men's head coach Sam Walker's 200th career victory, admission for both games will be just $2.00. So grab the family and come spend a night with an A&M-Commerce hoops doubleheader as the Lions battle the Cardinals.

A&M-Kingsville opened up LSC play with a 61-55 win against Cameron before falling to Midwestern State (75-63) and Texas Woman's (70-66).
Series Information: Saturday marks the 58th meeting between A&M-Commerce and A&M-Kingsville with the Lions holding on to a slim 29-28 edge in the all-time series. The Javelinas have won the last two games, taking both meetings in 2011-12, with the Lions' last win in the series coming in a 79-63 victory at the Field House in 2011. Head coach Nicole Anderson is 1-3 all-time against A&M-Kingsville as A&M-Commerce is seeking its first victory in Kingsville since the 2007-08 season.

Harris Remains Among LSC Leaders
Junior forward Breanna Harris remains one of the top players in the Lone Star Conference, sitting fourth in the LSC in points per game (14.1) while ranking third in rebounds per game (9.9). Harris, who scored 30 points in the Lions' season-opener against Southern Arkansas, has reached double figures in six of A&M-Commerce's eight games. She has recorded three double-doubles on the year, coming just shy on two other occasions, and is the LSC leader in offensive rebounds per game (4.8).

Looking Ahead
A&M-Commerce continues into the heart of its 2012-13 Lone Star Conference schedule next week, beginning with a showdown with Midwestern State on Wednesday, January 9th at the Field House as the two long-time rivals square off at 5:30 p.m. A&M-Commerce then makes the trek north into Lawton, Okla. to face Cameron on Saturday, January 12th, tipping off at 2 p.m. against the Aggies.
