Series Score: A&M-Commerce has struggled against West Texas A&M ever since the first meeting in the 1975-76 season. The Lions hold a record of 9-45 against the Lady Buffs all-time. The includes at 30 game losing streak to start off the series. Of those nine wins only two have come in Canyon. Charles Mancil and Denny Downing are the only two coaches to win in Canyon, Mancil in '00-01 (71-70) and Downing in '04-05 (78-69). The Lions have dropped their last six to WT by an average of 24.3 points including a 110-37 defeat last season in Canyon. The Lions have dropped their last two against the Zias. Before this recent skid the Lions had won five in a row and six of the last eight in the series. Eastern has not lost to A&M-C as a conference opponent since the 2004-05 season. That is because the LSC was in two divisions and crossover games were not counted towards your league record.

Scouting the Lady Buffs:
2012-13:
7-9, 3-4 LSC
Head Coach: Krista Gerlich - Fifth Season - 129-30 at WT

Last Three Games: vs. Texas Woman's W, 65-51; at Incarnate Word L, 51-50; at A&M-Kingsville W, 72-48.

Key Players
• #2 Devin Griffin: 15.0 ppg / 7.0 rpg / 2.3 apg / 50.7% FG

• #44 Chontiquah White: 13.3 ppg / 7.9 rpg / 54.2% FG / 72.4% FT
• #21 Lacee Logan: 13.2 ppg / 4.2 rpg / 2.5 apg / 45.1% 3PT

West Texas is currently tied for fifth in the LSC with Angelo State and A&M-Commerce. The Lady Buffs are led by Devin Griffin who is averaging 15 points per game to go along with 7 rebounds. Griffin is currently four in the LSC in scoring and eighth in rebounding. Chontiquah White is also having a good season averaging just over 13 per game and is currently sixth in the LSC in scoring. West Texas is one of two teams that have two players in the top ten in the LSC in terms of ppg, Tarleton State is other. Lacee Logan would also be in the top ten but has not appeared in enough games to qualify for the conference leaders. Logan would also be second in the LSC for 3PT shooting percentage. After starting the season 0-3 playing in a quality tournament in California with two top 25 teams the Buffs have won four of their last six games.

Scouting the Zias:
2012-13:
3-12, 2-5 LSC
Head Coach: Lindsey Wilson - Second Season - 10-17 Career

Last Three Games: at Incarnate Word L, 64-39; at Texas A&M-Kingsville W, 65-58; vs. Texas Woman's L, 60-40

Key Players:
• #3 Ashlee Pierson: 6.7 ppg / 2.0 rpg / 1.9 spg / 42.2% F
• #10 Tara Johnson: 6.3 ppg / 3.5 rpg / 1.5 apg / 33.3% 3PT
• #12 Hannah Altheide: 6.0 ppg / 1.7 rpg / 2.1 apg / 1.1 spg

The Zias have won three of their last five to try to rebound after starting the 0-10. The Zias have struggled on offense so far this season. No player on the Zias is currently in the Top 30 in scoring, Top 20 in rebounding and Top15 field goal percentage. Eastern has an impressive win at home against Midwestern State at home on New Year's Eve. That loss is one of just two losses so far for Midwestern in conference play. This will mark the first time the Zias and Lions will play each other and have the game count as a conference game. The last time the Lions beat the Zias was back in the 2004-05 season as a conference game.

Harris among LSC leaders: A&M-Commerce junior forward currently ranks third in the conference in rebounding with 10.1 rebounds per game. She also leads the conference in offensive rebounds per game at 5.3.

Master Thieves: The A&M-Commerce Lions rank currently fourth in the conference as a team in terms of steals with 9.3 per game. This is without a single player ranking in Top 15 in steals individually.
Big on the Boards: So far this the Lions are the best rebounding team in the conference averaging 43 rebounds per game. Those 43 rebounds lead to a +3.5 rebounding margin per game, which puts them fifth in the LSC.

Shooting Blanks
: This season the Lions have struggled shooting this season especially from behind the three point line. A&M-C is currently last in 3PT percentage per game at just under 20% on the season. The Lions are also the only team yet to make 35 three point field goals.

Setting New Marks:
Several A&M-C Lions have set season and career highs over the winter break including Harris with a new career high in rebounds with 19 against Midwestern State. La'Tisha Hearne set season and career highs in points, assists and steals against Henderson State on December 18.

Who is Next: A&M-Commerce will host the first place Tarleton State Texanns on Saturday January 26 and then travel to Texas Woman's to try and sweep the season series against the Pioneers for the first time since the 2008-09 season. The game against TWU is set for 7:00 p.m. in Denton.
