The 2011-12 A&M-Commerce athletic season was filled with a number of impressive performance and memorable highlights achieved by the Lion student-athletes. To close out the athletic season, LionAthletics.com is looking back at the top-15 moments of the year, voted on by athletic administrators, media members and Lion fans. The moments will be revealed on Mondays and Thursdays, leading into the start of the 2012-13 A&M-Commerce athletic season.

COMMERCE, Texas – Women's golf makes an appearance on the Top-15 countdown as sophomore Chantry McMahan closed out the 2011-12 season in style, finishing second at the Lone Star Conference Championships on April 17 at the Whitworth Course in Trophy Club. McMahan paced A&M-Commerce to a third-place finish, its best showing since placing third in 2008.
McMahan opened up the conference championships with a 1-over 73 in round one, sitting in third-place in the individual standings. She followed that up with a 2-over 74 in round two, closing out the 36-hole tournament with a 3-over 147, finishing three strokes off the lead en route to earning All-Tournament honors.
McMahan was one of three Lions to place among the individual top-20 at the Championships as fellow sophomore Sara Diaz posted a 7-over 79 in both rounds to finish tied for 17th overall with a 14-over 158. Sophomore teammate Chelsea McCoy was one stroke back with a 15-over 159,
It was the second-straight years McMahan earned a runner-up showing at the LSC Championships, placing second with a 3-over 216 as a freshman after rounds of 70 and 71. McMahan was recognized as a second team All-Lone Star Conference selection after being named an honorable mention in 2010-11.
On the year, McMahan once again emerged as the Lions' top golfer, recording a 77.95 scoring average with four top-10 finishes, including three showings in the top-five. In two seasons with the Lions, McMahan has competed in all 20 tournaments with a career scoring average of 78.03 and nine top-10 finishes.
As a team, A&M-Commerce notched six top-10 finishes, highlighted by the third-place showing at the Lone Star Conference Championships. The Lions also placed fourth the season-opening Southwest Classic in Arlington and at the Midwestern State Invitational in Wichita Falls in March. A&M-Commerce compiled a 324.21 scoring average on the year, including a low round of 309 at both the LSC Championships and the Dallas Baptist Golf Classic.
