SAN ANGELO, Texas -- A rain and lightning delay did little to slow down A&M-Commerce as four Lions shoot in the 70s, helping the Lions jump two spots and finish fifth at the Angelo State Concho River Classic. The Lions finished six shots better than the Rambelles (48-over 624) and seven shots ahead of Western Washington (49-over 625), while besting the eighth-place Cardinals (50-over 626).
St. Edward's captured the team title with an 18-over 594, shooting a pair of 297s over the two-day tournament and defeating second-place Midwestern State (27-over 603) by nine shots. Fellow LSC opponent Tarleton State finished third with a 30-over 606, followed by fourth-place Newman (37-over 613) with the Lions rounding out the top-five.
A&M-Commerce will now have a little time off before returning to the links at the Central Oklahoma Broncho Classic in Edmond, Oklahoma. The 36-hole tournament gets underway at the Lincoln Park East Course on Monday, October 1st and concludes on Tuesday, October 2nd.
