A&M-COMMERCE CLOSES OUT RCB BANK CLASSIC WITH 10TH-PLACE SHOWING

EDMOND, Okla. – A&M-Commerce entered Tuesday's final round of the Central Oklahoma RCB Bank Classic seeking its second top-five finish of the season. But the Lions struggled over the final 18 holes, slipping to 10th out of the 17 team field, finishing the tournament with a 47-over 615.

Heading into the final 18 holes, A&M-Commerce remained in the hunt for the team title at the RCB Bank Classic, sitting just six shots back of first place with an 18-over 302. But the Lions added 11 strokes to its second round total, posting a 29-over 313 to slide back to 10th, finishing with a 47-over 615 and holding off Lone Star Conference opponent Cameron (49-over 617) by two strokes.

Individually, Sara Diaz and Chantry McMahan tied for the top spot among Lion golfers, tying for 30th overall with an 11-over 153. The duo swapped scores from round one as Diaz led A&M-Commerce with a 5-over 76, one shot better than McMahan's 6-over 77.

Holly Jenkins, who set a career-best with a 7-over 78 on Monday, set her second career-low in as many days with a 6-over 77 in round two and finishing third among A&M-Commerce's golfers with a 13-over 155. Chelsea McCoy (16-over 158) and Haley Green (20-over 162) rounded out the A&M-Commerce scorecard.

After sitting tied for first after round one, St. Edward's pulled away to capture the team title with a 20-over 588, defeating second-place Southwestern Oklahoma State (26-over 594) by six shots and besting Dallas Baptist (29-over 597) by nine strokes. Newman (31-over 599) and Central Oklahoma (32-over 600) rounded out the top-five.

Individually, Oklahoma Christian's Anna Arrese Cortadellas took home the individual title with a 1-over 143, defeating St. Edward's' Wallis Spears, Dallas Baptists' Macie Seeker and Arkansas Tech's Rebecka Surtevall (2-over 144) by one stroke over the 36-hole tournament.

With three tournaments in the books, A&M-Commerce will have a week off before returning to action at the Dallas Baptist Golf Classic on October 15 and 16 at the Golf Club of Dallas. The tournament opens with 18 holes on Monday, Oct. 15, with the final round set for Tuesday, Oct. 16.
