Dallas Baptist Classic Round One Results (PDF)

DALLAS – A&M-Commerce had four golfers shoot in the 70s over the opening 18 holes of the 2012 Dallas Baptist Classic as the Lions settle into a tie for third-place after the opening round. A&M-Commerce posted a 15-over 303 and sit 10 strokes out of first place.

Haley Green led A&M-Commerce through the opening 18 holes, opening up with an even-par 36 over the first nine holes, followed by a 1-over 37 through the back nine to post a career-best 1-over 73, sitting tied for fifth in the individual standings. She holds a two-stroke advantage over teammate Sara Diaz who is tied for 11th overall after notching a 3-over 75, which included a 2-under 34 through the front nine holes.

Chelsea McCoy just missed heading into the clubhouse among the individual top-20, sitting tied for 21st overall with a 5-over 77, including a 1-under 35 through the first nine holes. Chantry McMahan recovered from a 6-over 42 over the first nine holes to shoot an even-par 36 over the back-nine, checking in at 6-over 78 with Holly Jenkins rounding out the Lion scorecard with a 13-over 85.

The Lions' 15-over 303 is the second-lowest round on the year for A&M-Commerce, one stroke behind their 302 at the Central Oklahoma RCB Bank Classic. The Lions currently sit tied with Lone Star Conference rival Midwestern State as the pair sit two shots behind second-place Chico State (13-over 301). St. Edward's is the leader after round one, posting a 5-over 293 through the opening 18 holes.

A handful of teams are on the Lions' heels, including host Dallas Baptist, who is in fifth-place with a 19-over 307. Central Oklahoma and Arkansas Tech are seven strokes back, posting a 22-over 310, followed by Northwood in eighth at 26-over 314.

Tuesday's final round gets underway with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. A&M-Commerce will be teamed up with Dallas Baptist and Central Oklahoma in the final round pairings, with full results being posted at LionAthletics.com as they become available.
