Lions Post 4-1 Win on Senior Day

Senior Meagan Lasley beat the goalkeeper for two first half goals on Senior Day to lead host Texas A&M University-Commerce to a 4-1 win over Northeastern State.

A&M-Commerce (9-6, 4-3 LSC) recognized its five seniors - Meagan Lasley, Lacy Alexander, Jennifer Alvarado, Whitney Hancock and Taylor Jordan in pre-match ceremonies. Lasley recorded her third multi-goal game of the season in the win.

Northeastern State (5-9-1, 1-6-1 LSC) avoided the shutout when Sibonet Quinones fired a shot to the top of the goal and beyond the reach of Lions' goalkeeper Randi Hafele in the 72nd minute.

The Lions scored three of their goals when they went one on one against NSU goalkeeper Aubree Gallego. Lasley got A&M-Commerce on the board in the ninth and 38th minute. Her first goal came when she took a pass from Alvarado and went to the lower right for her team-leading 11th goal. Lasley scored again on a shot to the lower right after a free kick by junior Megan Monroe to give the Lions a 2-0 advantage.

In the second half, junior Chelsey Haight picked up a crossing pass from sophomore Devon Herrman in the air to the top left of the goal in the 57th minute to extend the lead to 3-0. The Lions stretched the lead to 4-0 when freshman Haley Mull scored her first collegiate goal. She dribbled past the NSU defense after passes from Heather Cavey and Alexander in the 62nd minute to bottom left of the goal.

Hafele and senior Taylor Jordan each made a save while facing seven shots by the RiverHawks. The 4-1 margin is the same score of the last three Lions' senior day games.

A&M-Commerce will close out the home portion of its schedule on Tuesday at 7 pm at Memorial Stadium against East Central which was originally scheduled for Friday.
