McCARTY PICKS UP LONE STAR CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR

COMMERCE, Texas -- Lion senior Jordan McCarty has been named the Lone Star Conference's Co-Offensive Player of the Week, announced today by league officials. McCarty picks up her first career LSC weekly honor, sharing the award with Abilene Christian's Ashley Craig.

McCarty ensured her final game at Lion Soccer Field would be a memorable one. Trailing Texas Woman's 1-0 with less than 10 minutes to play, McCarty assisted on Brionna Minde's goal in the 82nd minute, tying the match at 1-1. Then, just three minutes later, McCarty netted the game-winner to give the Lions a big 2-1 victory over the Pioneers to clinch the four seed in this week's Lone Star Conference Championship.

McCarty has four goals and an assist on the year, including two game-winning goals. She upped her career total to nine goals and six assists with three career game winners. McCarty becomes the third Lion to notch LSC Player of the Week honors, joining Minde (Offensive - Sept. 21 and Oct. 12) and Randi Hafele (Goalkeeper - Oct. 12).

She and the rest of the Lions are on their way to Abilene, getting ready for the 2011 Lone Star Conference Championship. A&M-Commerce is the four seed and will face fifth-seeded Angelo State at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3 at the Wildcat Soccer Pitch. The winner of that match will face top-seed and second-ranked Abilene Christian Friday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. For complete LSC Soccer Championship coverage, visit the Tournament Central link.
