MINDE NAMED DAKTRONICS SECOND TEAM ALL-SOUTH CENTRAL REGION
COMMERCE, Texas -- A&M-Commerce sophomore Brionna Minde has been named to the Daktronics Women's Soccer South Central Region Second Team, announced today. She becomes the first Lion to earn All-Region honors since teammate Devon Herrman picked up second team honors in 2009.
Minde had a breakout season as a sophomore for A&M-Commerce, recording 10 goals and picking up six assists. Minde's 26 points tied for third in the Lone Star Conference individual leaders as she tied for fourth in both goals and assists. She was third on the Lions with 41 shots on the year, 25 of which were on goal, and added a pair of game-winning goals on the season.
Minde recorded a career-best seven points, logging three goals and an assist in the 5-1 victory over Angelo State on October 7. She had her first career multi-goal game, notching a pair of goals, including the game-winner against West Texas on Sept. 16, which just happened to be her 20th birthday. Minde also had the game-tying goal in the 2-1 victory over Texas Woman's in the regular season finale.
For her efforts, Minde was named to the All-Lone Star Conference first team after picking up a pair of LSC Offensive Player of the Week awards in 2011. She has also been honored for her efforts in the classroom, being selected to both the Lone Star Conference All-Academic Team and was a Capital One Academic All-District IV first team honoree.
Minde becomes the fourth Lion to receive Daktronic All-Region recognition since the company began recognizing players in 2007. She joins current assistant coach Meagan Lasley and Sarah Reed (2008) and Herrman (2009) as a second team selection. Lasley was a first team All-Region honoree in 2009 as well.
