2012 A&M-COMMERCE SOCCER SEASON RECAP
The 2012 Lion soccer season started off promising with an opening night win over Ouachita Baptist and a road win at eventual conference champ West Texas A&M. But some key injuries and inconsistent offense prevented the Lions from stringing together victories to move up in the conference standings. Unfortunately the season ended with four straight losses leading the Lions to miss the conference tournament for the first time since 2002.

BRUTTO, MINDE NAMED NSCAA THIRD TEAM ALL-REGION SELECTIONS
COMMERCE, Texas -- A&M-Commerce juniors Eva Brutto and Brionna Minde have been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Central Region third team, announced by the organization.

COMMERCE, Texas – A&M-Commerce sophomore defender Callie Annett has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District VI first team, announced today by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

COMMERCE, Texas -- Due to the heavy rains that moved through the Commerce area overnight, today's soccer match between A&M-Commerce and West Texas A&M has been pushed back to a 3 p.m. start to allow Lion Soccer Field a little extra time to dry out.

Commerce, Texas – The Lions made sure late game heroics were not needed by either side with Anitra Wright and Cadie Annett scored within the first 10 minutes and Callie Annett added one in the second half to give the Lions a 3-0 victory over Eastern New Mexico.

San Angelo, Texas- Unlike their last game against Incarnate Word the Lions struggled to get the offense going but that was not case early when Kate Hyde connected on a shot in the 10th minute that was set up Anitra Wright after a corner kick.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – An Amber Guenther penalty kick goal, in the 69th minutes, was all the Cardinals needed to beat the Lions on Friday night in San Antonio.

Commerce, Texas- Cadie and Callie Annett proved that things do come better in pairs when Cadie got a feed from her twin sister, Callie, and fired a shot past Pioneer goalkeeper, Lindsey Sisco, for the game winner in the first over time period.

NEELY'S GOAL LIFTS LIONS TO A 1-0 VICTORY OVER WILDCATS
COMMERCE, Texas -- It took an extra day for A&M-Commerce to finally take the field against Abilene Christian, but it proved to be worth the wait. Sophomore Stephanie Neely notched her first goal of the season in the 28th minute and the Lions kept the reigning conference champions off the board to take a 1-0 decision at Lion Soccer Field.

COMMERCE, Texas -- Due to the amount of rain that has fallen over the area the past two days, the decision was made earlier this morning that Lion Soccer Field was unplayable. Therefore, the game against Abilene Christian has been pushed back to Monday, October 1, beginning at 3 p.m.

Commerce, Texas – Incarnate Word took control in the second and was able to score three times in half to power past the Lions, 4-1 on Sunday afternoon at Lion Soccer Field. Sarah Parker tallied two and Katie Miller added another to put give the Cardinals the victory.

Commerce, Texas – Lions drop opener of five game home stand, 2-1, to Angelo State. A&M-Commerce found themselves on the short end of a three-goal spurt by both teams late in the second half and could not pull even in the final nine minutes.

Portales, N.M. – Lions fall in second game of road trip and fall to .500 in conference play after a 1-0 defeat to Eastern New Mexico. Sophomore defender Victoria Perez headed in the only goal off a free kick on the 37th minute. With the loss the Lions fall back under .500 as they return home for the next five games on the schedule

A&M-Commerce looked solid early in its match against host Harding Friday evening, but mother nature had other plans as strong thunderstorms and lightning moved through the Searcy area, canceling the game in the 31st minute.

A&M-COMMERCE TAKES SEASON OPENER OVER OUACHITA BAPTIST, 2-0
In front of a standing room only crowd at Lion Soccer Field the A&M-Commerce Lions defeated the Ouachita Baptist Tigers by a score of 2-0. With the victory the Lions improve on the unblemished record over the Tigers improving to 8-0 all-time.

LIONS OPEN 2012 SEASON FACING OUACHITA BAPTIST, NO. 10 FORT LEWIS
The Lions will hope to rebound from an 8-9-3 campaign a season ago with leading scorer Brionna Minde, 10 goals along with 6 assists, and reigning Lone Star Conference Freshmen of the Year Jade Bell, seven goals along with 18 points. Solid contributions should continue from sophomores Cadie Annett and Stephanie Neeley. Fellow returning starters include Callie Annett, Tareyn Blanton, Eva Brutto and Brittni Ong.

A&M-Commerce soccer opened its summer preseason workouts Monday morning as the Lions welcomed a nice mixture of both returning veterans and talented newcomers to the newly resodded field at Lion Soccer Field.

DEVON HERRMAN NAMED LSC'S 2012 NCAA WOMAN OF THE YEAR HONOREE
Former Lion soccer standout Devon Herrman has been named the Lone Star Conference’s honoree for the 2012 NCAA Woman of the Year award, announced today. Each school is eligible to submit one nominee for the award, with the conference picking one honoree to become eligible for the national competition.

A&M-Commerce has announced its 2012 soccer schedule as the Lions will face a challenging slate that includes four NCAA tournament teams from 2011 as well as eight home matches at Lion Soccer Field.
