The Lions were able to control the pace during the opening 20 miuntes of the match with eight corner kicks. As the first half moved along the Lions were able to get some chances on goal but shots by Anitra Wright, Cadie Annett and Catie Hyde were all turned away.

Cadie Annett had a shot blocked with less than five minutes remaining.

Wright has a chance to be the hero in the first over time session but her shot sailed just over the crossbar from about 25 yards out. Midwestern's only shot was blocked by the Lion defense.
