MOMENT #2: PAIR OF LIONS QUALIFY FOR DIVISION II NATIONAL MEET
The countdown of the top moments of the 2011-12 A&M-Commerce season is nearly complete as for moment number two we take one final trip out to the track at Memorial Stadium. For the second-straight season, A&M-Commerce had a pair of women athletes qualify for the NCAA Division II national meet as Whitney Hargraves qualified in the long jump with teammate Aysha Moultrie qualifying in the heptathlon.

MOMENT #10: TRACK AND FIELD NOTCHES PAIR OF LSC INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONS
Our number 10 moment of the 2011-12 season takes us back out to the track at Memorial Stadium as the best track and field athletes in the Lone Star Conference descended on Commerce for the 2012 Lone Star Conference Track and Field Championships. With the eyes of the entire conference watching, a number of Lions posted memorable performances, including a pair taking home individual LSC titles.

2012 A&M-COMMERCE WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD SEASON RECAP
The 2012 A&M-Commerce women’s track and field season wrapped up with a number of impressive performance by head coach Sara Davis’ squad. The Lions closed out the year with 85 top-five showings on the year and 17 first-place finishes, highlighted by a pair of All-Lone Star Conference selections, an LSC champion and a pair of NCAA Division II qualifiers.

Our #14 moment of the year takes us out to the track of Memorial Stadium as the women’s track team had a number of impressive performances, including setting three school records on the season and coming within a whisker of setting a pair of others.

WHITNEY HARGRAVES PLACES NINTH IN LONG JUMP AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
Fresh off her second-place finish in the long jump at the Lone Star Conference Championships, Whitney Hargraves closed out the 2012 season with a ninth-place showing at the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships on the campus of Colorado State-Pueblo.

FOUR LIONS GARNER USTFCCCA ALL-SOUTH CENTRAL REGION HONORS
Four A&M-Commerce track and field athletes have been named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South Central All-Region team, announced earlier this week. Isaac Chelimo, Khalil Henry and Fredrick Kipsang were selected on the men’s side while Whitney Hargraves represented the Lion women’s team.

HARGRAVES, MOULTRIE QUALIFY FOR 2012 NCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Once again, A&M-Commerce will have a pair of representatives on the national track and field stage as senior Aysha Moultrie and junior Whitney Hargraves qualified for the 2012 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships held Thursday, May 24 through Saturday, May 26 in Pueblo, Colo. Moultrie will compete in the heptathlon while Hargraves will compete in the long jump.

TRIO OF LIONS GARNER ALL-CONFERENCE TRACK AND FIELD HONORS
Three A&M-Commerce track and field athletes have been named to the 2012 All-Lone Star Conference team, announced today by league officials. Junior Whitney Hargraves and sophomore Abigail Leaupepe-Tele represent the Lion women’s team while Khalil Henry was selected from the men’s squad.

LIONS WRAP UP REGULAR SEASON AT INCARNATE WORD LAST CHANCE MEET
A&M-Commerce closed out the 2012 regular season with a trip to San Antonio, competing in the Incarnate Word Last Chance Meet at Benson Stadium. A handful of Lions competed as each placed among the top five in their respective events.

A&M-COMMERCE WOMEN NOTCH SIXTH-PLACE SHOWING AT LSC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Competing on its home track, A&M-Commerce had a respectable showing over the weekend, accumulating 57 points to finish sixth in the 2012 Lone Star Conference Championships at Memorial Stadium.

MOULTRIE SITS SECOND AFTER FIRST FOUR EVENTS OF HEPTATHLON
The opening day of the 2012 Lone Star Conference Championships is in the books with a pair of Lions having strong showings in the first half of both the heptathlon and decathlon. Senior Aysha Moultrie currently sits second in the heptathlon after four events with 3,046 points while freshman James Lundy is eighth in the decathlon, registering 3,163 points.

A&M-COMMERCE SETS PAIR OF SEASON-BESTS AT TEXAS STATE BOBCAT CLASSIC
A&M-Commerce was able to get one final meet of competition in before the 2012 Lone Star Conference Championships as three Lions place among the top-10 at the Texas State Bobcat Classic.

A&M-COMMERCE WRAPS UP COMPETITION AT MICHAEL JOHNSON CLASSIC
A handful of Lions competed at the 2012 Michael Johnson Dr. Pepper Classic at the Hart-Patterson Track Complex on the campus of Baylor University. Four A&M-Commerce athletes finished among the top-10 in three separate events, competing against some of the best athletes in the region.

UT-TYLER MARC RANDLE CLASSIC YIELDS 18 TOP-FIVE LION FINISHES
A&M-Commerce continued to put up impressive results on the 2012 season as 18 different Lions place among the top-five at the UT-Tyler Marc Randle Classic at the Brookhill School in Bullard.

RELAYS, FIELD EVENTS HIGHLIGHT DAY AT MEAN GREEN SPRING INVITATIONAL
Sparked by solid showings by the field athletes and the relay teams, A&M-Commerce closed out competition at the 2012 North Texas Mean Green Spring Invitational at Fouts Field.

A&M-COMMERCE POSTS ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL SATURDAY AT BISON OPEN
A&M-Commerce continued the midway point of its 2012 track and field season with a strong showing at the Oklahoma Baptist Bison Open. 10 different Lions finished among the top-five in their respective events, including three first-place finishes on the afternoon.

A&M-COMMERCE WRAPS UP COMPETITION AT BOBBY LANE INVITATIONAL
A&M-Commerce wrapped up competition at the 2012 Bobby Lane Invitational at Maverick Stadium on the campus of UT-Arlington, going up against some of the top teams in the region at both the Division I and Division II level. Nine different Lions finished among the top-20 in six different events on the afternoon.

A&M-Commerce made a last-minute adjustment to its schedule, but came away with impressive results as 15 different Lion athletes recorded top-five finishes in eight different events at the 2012 Hendrix Invitational.

A&M-Commerce wrapped up two days of competition at the Incarnate Word Invitational in San Antonio and built on its early season success, seeing 10 different Lions finish among the top-five in eight different events.

A&M-COMMERCE OPENS 2012 SEASON AT LION PRESEASON INVITATIONAL
A&M-Commerce opened up its 2012 track and field season hosting the Lion Preseason Invitational at Memorial Stadium Friday, February 24. Six teams descended on Commerce as the Lions had 17 competitors record top-five finishes, including five first-place finishes.

A&M-COMMERCE UNVEILS 2012 TRACK AND FIELD SCHEDULE
Texas A&M University-Commerce has released its 2012 men’s and women’s track and field schedule as the Lions begin competition in March. The schedule is highlighted by the 2012 Lone Star Conference Championships, which will be hosted by A&M-Commerce at Memorial Stadium on May 3-5, 2012.

The Texas A&M University-Commerce track and field team is holding open tryouts on Friday, October 7 at Memorial Stadium for the upcoming 2012 track and field season.
