Marc Randle Classic Final Results

BULLARD, Texas -- A&M-Commerce continued to put up impressive results on the 2012 season as 18 different Lions place among the top-five at the UT-Tyler Marc Randle Classic at the Brookhill School in Bullard.

Four different Lions highlighted the day by winning their respective events, beginning with Angela Reed placing first in the 200 meter dash (25.54). Tierra Hill recorded a first place finish in the long jump with a jump of 5.42 meters, with Breana Anderson-Burton posting a leap of 11.54 meters in the triple jump and Abigail Leaupepe-Tele recording a 13.22 meter heave in the shot put, both of which were season-bests for A&M-Commerce.

Among the Lion jumpers, Taniqua Hawkins joined Hill among the top-five in the long jump (5.10 meters) with Hill finishing second in the triple jump (11.26 meters), followed by Desiree Spencer in fifth (9.76 meters). Ashley Ross posted a pair of top-five finishes, placing second in both the discus (41.52 meters) with Leaupepe-Tele adding a third-place finish in the discus (40.44 meters).

The Lion sprinters also had a strong showing as Reed was joined in the 200 meter dash by K'Nycha Johnson (26.07) who placed third and Jakesia King (26.12) in fourth. In the 400 meter dash, Brooke Odom (1:00.10) finished second for A&M-Commerce with Ethel Ajanga (1:01.12) placing fourth.

In the distance events, Aysha Moultrie placed third in the 800 meter dash, setting a program season-low time with a time of 2:29.52. Kendall Christmas notched a fifth-place finish in the 1500 meter run, with Caroline Cotsakis (20:05.01) and Jennifer Speer (20:19.93) placing second and fourth respectively in the 5000 meter run.

The Lions now prepare for a pair of prestigious meets coming up next weekend. Some of the Lions will head to Walnut, Calif., competing in the Mt. SAC Relays April 20-21. The remainder of the team will make the trip down to Waco, competing in the Michael Johnson Invitational hosted by Baylor.
