Sara Davis is in her fourth year as the head women’s track and field coach at Texas A&M University-Commerce. During her time with the Lions, the women's program has seen incredible strides, making its mark in both the Lion record books as well as on the national stage.

In 2012, seniors Whitney Hargraves (long jump) and Aysha Moultrie (heptathlon) both qualified for the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships, marking the second-straight year that a pair of Lions had qualified for the national meet. Hargraves finished ninth in the long jump, falling just shy of qualifying as an All-American.

Davis had a number of her track and field athletes notch impressive showings at the Lone Star Conference Championships held at Memorial Stadium in which A&M-Commerce placed sixth. Sophomore Abigail Leaupepe-Tele won the discus title while Hargraves finished second in both the long and triple jumps as both were recognized as All-Lone Star Conference selections for their efforts. Moultrie also had a strong showing, placing third in the heptathlon which included both an A&M-Commerce and a Lone Star Conference heptathlon record in the 200 meter dash, posting a time of 24.77.

In addition to Moultrie's school record in the 200 meter dash, two other of A&M-Commerce women's program records fell in 2012, both coming in the relays. In the 4x100 meter relay, the Lions actually broke the previous school mark of 47.17 three times, highlighted by a 47.10 showing at the Bobby Lane Invitational. In the 4x400 meter relay, A&M-Commerce ran a school-best 3:49.74 at the Lone Star Conference Championships, which bested the previous best of 3:51.12 set in 1990.

In 2011, A&M-Commerce landed in seventh place at the LSC Championships under Davis. She again helped send two athletes to the NCAA Division II National Championship as La’Shara Jefferson finished in fourth in the discus while Starasia Childs placed ninth in the triple jump.

The founder of the Sprinters Elite Track Club, brings to A&M-Commerce valuable experience as a former runner at UCLA and as a coach. At the Sprinters Elite Track Club, she was involved with teaching young, talented athletes to train and compete at their optimal level.

Davis still competes in track and field at the Masters level, where in 2006 and in 2007 she was second in the nation in her age division in the 100 and 400-meter sprints and ninth in the world in each distance. Before coming to A&M-Commerce, Davis was a successful coach at the prestigous American Heritage Academy from 2005-2007. While at American Heritage Academy, her Girls team placed second in the TAPPS State Meet.

At UCLA, she was coached by one of the nation’s most successful track and field coaches Bob Kersee and was a teammate to standouts Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Gail Devers and Florence Griffith-Joyner “FloJo”. She earned All-American honors in the sprints and was a member of a school record setting relay at UCLA, where she graduated with her bachelor’s degree. In addition to her experiences in track and field, Davis is a certified personal trainer by the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

Ranard Adkinson is in his second season as an assistant coach for the A&M-Commerce men's and women's track and field teams, overseeing the Lion jumpers.

Adkinson comes to A&M-Commerce from Cal State University-Los Angeles, where he spent the past year aiding in the development of the sprinters, hurdlers, and jumpers for the Golden Eagles. While coaching at CSULA, Adkinson over saw 2 different national championship winners in Long Jump and Triple Jump.

Prior to CSULA, Adkinson mentored several individual standouts at Southwest Baptist University, including the school’s first-ever male and female conference champions and national qualifiers. Under Adkinson, 15 different schools records were set, and four individual won conference championships.

Adkinson has not only been a stand out coach, but he also had a stellar career while at Long Island University. He was a three-time Northeast Conference Champion as a member of the sprint team. He set four school records and a conference record while playing for the Blackbirds.

Adkinson earned his Bachelor’s degree in Media Arts from Long Island University in 2004, and his Master’s degree in Education from Southwest Baptist University in 2007.

Marquis Stimpson is in his second season as an assistant track and field coach for A&M-Commerce and his first as a full-time assistant. Stimpson works primarily with the men and women throws teams.

Stimpson was a four year letterwinner at A&M-Commerce, emerging as one of the top throwers for the Lions all four years. His career was highlighted by a fourth-place finish in the discus at the Lone Star Conference Championships with a mark of 48.84 meters. Stimpson was also one of A&M-Commerce's top jumpers, finishing in the top-15 at the Lone Star Conference Championships twice in the long jump.

A native of Lancaster, Texas, Stimpson earned his bachelor's degree in kinesiology from A&M-Commerce in 2011.
