Lions' Volleyball Picked to Fifth in the Lone Star Conference

Coming off one of the best seasons in school history, the Texas A&M University-Commerce volleyball team was picked to finish fifth in a Lone Star Conference preseason poll conducted by members of the media, head coaches and sports information directors announced on Tuesday. 

The Lions advanced to the second round of the LSC Tournament, finished fourth in the LSC and posted a 25-10 record. A&M-Commerce will be guided by first-year head coach Craig Case as the Lions will be led by seniors Naomi Mays, Terra Ousley and Rachael Shelton

West Texas A&M, who advanced to the national finals in 2009, was picked to win its fifth-straight conference title. The Buffs collected 27 first place votes on the 40 ballots and the Wildcats of Abilene Christian received the remaining 13. Angelo State was third and Central Oklahoma fourth, followed by the Lions. 

LSC newcomer Incarnate Word was sixth, Midwestern State seventh, Texas Woman's eighth and Southeastern Oklahoma ninth. Texas A&M-Kingsville, Cameron, Tarleton State, East Central, Southwestern Oklahoma and Eastern New Mexico rounded out the poll.
