COMMERCE, Texas – A&M-Commerce head volleyball coach Craig Case today announced the addition of Haley Major to the Lion squad for 2012. Major has signed a National Letter of Intent and will report to Commerce in August.

"We're very happy about the addition of Haley to our program as she will provide us some depth at our defensive specialist and outside hitting positions," Case said. "Haley is driven, athletic, and skilled, and when you put those three things together and you usually end up with a good collegiate player.   Being able to bring in a player who can do both of those was critical for our program.  In terms of focus, passion, and dedication Haley is the type of player we try to attract to our program every year."

Major comes to A&M-Commerce following a solid prep career at Trinity High School in Euless where she lettered twice for the Trojans, including serving as team captain as a senior. A second team All-District selection in 2011, Major was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Year after posting 208 kills, 38 blocks, 261 digs and 28 aces as a senior. She also excelled in the classroom as Major was a three-time Academic All-District selection and was tabbed an Academic All-State honoree in 2012.

A&M-Commerce looks to build on its 11-17 showing in 2011, returning the entire core of the Lion squad, including first team All-Lone Star Conference middle blocker Rachel Robertson and second team All-LSC setter Jordan Neal. Major should also get her chance early to prove herself as last year's freshman class of Ezon Onditi, Breanne Snyder and Savanah Neal all saw significant playing time for A&M-Commerce.
