JORDAN NEAL TABBED LONE STAR CONFERENCE SETTER OF THE WEEK
COMMERCE, Texas -- A&M-Commerce junior setter Jordan Neal has been named the Lone Star Conference Co-Setter of the Week, announced today by league officials. Neal earns her second conference weekly accolade of the season as she shares this week's distinction with Angelo State's Alex Woolsey.
Neal played a crucial role over the weekend in helping A&M-Commerce to a pair of sweeps over LSC opponents Incarnate Word and Texas A&M-Kingsville. She finished with 63 assists in the pair of victories (averaging 10.5 per set) while adding 23 digs, seven service aces and five blocks as the Lions hit .217 over the weekend. Neal also notched a pair of double-doubles, registering 29 assists and 12 digs against the Cardinals before finishing with 34 assists and 11 digs the following afternoon against the Javelinas.
On the season, Neal has recorded 367 assists and is averaging 10.49 per set, which ranks her third in the Lone Star Conference. She has also tallied 13 service aces, ranking third on the team and seventh in the conference with a 0.37 average. A two-time All-Lone Star Conference second team selection, Neal also earned Setter of the Week honors on September 4th after being named to the Henderson State Invitational All-Tournament team.
Neal and the rest of the Lions begin a four-match home stand tonight at the Field House, facing a tough early-season LSC battle against Texas Woman's at 7 p.m. The match against the Pioneers is a GOLD OUT game as Lion fans are encouraged to wear their gold PRIDE tonight to cheer on the Lions, who have matched their best start to the season since 2002.
