Track and Field Coach, Trainer • 1953-55, 1958-80
Brown led the Lion track and field teams for nearly a quarter century and led the team to eight LSC titles and two NAIA national runner-up finishes. During his tenure, his athletes won 12 individual national championships. He had athletes win nine NAIA All-American honors, six LSC Athletes of the Year awards and 78 First Team All-LSC awards.
In 1970, Brown was named to the Helms Athletic Foundation Hall of Fame as a trainer. He was the first athletic trainer in the Southwest Conference, when he joined Baylor in 1946. He also served as a trainer for the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team. In 1964, he was also the head trainer for the U.S. Olympic Track and Field team.
