Ingram helped lead the Lions to a pair of appearances in the NAIB National Playoffs in his junior and senior seasons. After playing in 12 games in an abbreviated 1942-43 season, Ingram joined the armed forces to fight in World War II. He returned to ETSU after the war. He was named First Team All-LSC in both his junior and senior seasons, scoring 215 points as a junior and 372 points as a senior. He helped lead the Lions to the a share of the 1947-48 LSC Championship with a 19-4 overall record and a trip to the NAIB playoffs. Ingram was again a First Team All-Conference selection in his senior season and the Lions once again qualified for the NAIB playoffs, winning their first round game.
Ingram graduated with both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from ETSU and went on to a career in public school as a teacher, coach and administrator.
