Men's Basketball, Men's Basketball Coach • 1963-66; 1968-69
Andrews was a three-year letterwinner in basketball for East Texas State from 1963-66. He was a three-time All-Lone Star Conference selection, including First Team honors in 1964. As a sophomore, he led the conference in scoring with an 18.2 points-per-game average and finished his career averaging 16.1 points per came.
As a senior, he set the Lions' single game record for points, scoring 57 points in two different games during the 1965-66 season. When his playing career ended, he either owned or shared four different school records and at the time of his induction into the Lion Hall of Fame, his records for points in a game (57) and his career free throw percentage (86.6) still stood.
Andrews returned to ETSU at the age of 24 to serve as the head basketball coach for the 1968-69 season.
