East Texas A&M University Athletics

Rex Norris played linebacker for East Texas State and went on to spend the last 40 years as a college and professional football coach. He began his career as an assistant for Texas A&M and was the defensive coordinator for coach Barry Switzer at Oklahoma. He produced seven first-team All-Americans and helped Oklahoma reach eight bowl games. He also coaching stints in the NFL with the Detroit Lions, Denver Broncos, Houston Oilers, Tennessee Oilers, Chicago Bears, internationally with the Amsterdam Admirals and Toronto Argonauts. He also coached for Arizona State, Florida, Tennessee, and Texas in the college ranks.
