Top Moment No. 14: Clem, McMahan Selected For NCAA Regional

The 2013-14 A&M-Commerce athletic season was filled with a handful of incredible moments, achievements and career milestones. Throughout the summer Lion Athletics will take a look back at the top 15 moments of the year, voted on by athletic administrators and local media members.
Despite not having a team advance to the regionals, a pair of Lion senior golfers – C.J. Clem and Chantry McMahan – managed to earn at-large bids into the regional field.

It was the second straight individual regional bid of Clem's career, and the first for McMahan. Clem was sent to Grey Rock Golf Club in Austin after finishing second individually at the Lone Star Conference championships, and just missing qualifying as part of the team field after the Lions fell in the conference title match to Cameron.

He finished with a 54-hole total of 236 (+20) and finished in 80th place overall individually after a season that saw him earn first team all-LSC honors.

McMahan, meanwhile, was the first Lion women's golfer selected for the regional since Katie McCranie did so as an individual in 2003. She did so on the strength of five top-10 finishes on the year and her fourth straight all-LSC selection.

She finished in 36th place for the regional at Walnut Creek Country Club in Mansfield, Texas, shooting at three-day total of 253 (+37). She turned in a low round of 79 on the tournament's finale day.
