Washington State drops Lion Women's Basketball in Pullman

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Texas A&M University-Commerce women's basketball team was downed 111-50 by the Washington State Cougars at Beasley Coliseum on Wednesday night.
 
Washington State has been nationally ranked for all but one week this season and is currently receiving votes in both major national polls. The Cougars are the defending Pac-12 Tournament champions and improved to 8-1 on the season, while the Lions fall to 3-3 overall, still searching for their first road win.
 
The Cougars scored a layup to start the game and the Lions tied the game at two on a jumper by Mia Deck (Frisco – Lone Star). The game was not tied again as Washington State scored the next five and led by as much as 14 in the first quarter.
 
A&M-Commerce was outscored 25-15 in the second quarter, 30-11 in the third quarter, and 29-11 in the fourth quarter.
 
Washington Shot 56.5 in the game, while holding A&M-Commerce to shoot 29.4 percent. A&M-Commerce, who came into the game ranking top 10 in the country with 9.8 three-pointers per game, was held to just one made three-pointer in the game, while Washington State totaled 12.
 
Wednesday was the first time since 2015 that the Lions allowed 100 points in a game.
 
Deck finished the game with 17 points, five rebounds, and three steals. She was the only Lion to score in double digits. Ahmya Boyce (Newport News, Va.) picked up seven points and three rebounds, while Cora Horvath (Obertwart, Austria) scored eight off the bench. Mary Delgado (Miami, Fla.) and Olivia Russell (Auburn Hills, Mich.) picked up five rebounds each to lead the team.
 
Every Cougar starter and seven total players scored in double digits. Bella Murekatete led the way with 22 points and 18 rebounds, while Astera Tuhina had a double-double as well with 10 points and 13 assists, while Charlisse Leger-Walker recorded 15 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double.
