Junior Devon Herrman (pictured; photo by Jared Horn) had her second career hat trick to lead the Texas A&M University-Commerce to a 5-0 shutout win over East Central on Thursday afternoon in Ada, Oklahoma.

The Irving, Texas native scored twice in the first half and added another four minutes into the second half for the hat trick. Last year, she had a hat trick in her A&M-Commerce debut against Mars Hill.

A&M-Commerce (7-5, 3-3 LSC) out shot East Central by a 21 to 8 margin, including a decisive 12 to 4 advantage in shots on goal. In addition to the three goals by Herrman, freshman Brionna Minde scored her first career goal.

Lions' junior goalkeeper Randi Hafele recorded her fifth shutout of the season, making four saves. Redshirt freshman Elizabeth Lanier played the final 9:14 to preserve the shutout.

Ashley Bradford had a team-best four shots to East Central, who falls to 4-7-2 overall and 0-5-1 in the LSC. Goalkeeper Natalie Wilson came off the bench in the final 45 minutes to make four saves.

Herrman got the Lions on the board in the 13th minute when she took a chip shot pass from freshman Elle DeFreitas and fired a shot to the left wing for the early goal and 1-0 advantage.

Less than three minutes later, senior Chelsey Haight took a cross from Minde and found the back of the net to put the A&M-Commerce ahead 2-0.

The Lions stretched the lead to 3-0 when Minde scored from 10 yards out in the 24th minute.

Herrman scored her second goal of the half when she kicked a shot over the head of the ECU goalkeeper in the 36th minute. She secured the hat trick off a free kick in the 49th minute.

Next, A&M-Commerce will next travel to Northeastern State in Tahlequah on Sunday at noon.
