The Lions are ready to shake back against Letourneau

Commerce, Texas – A&M-Commerce looks to get back on track at home against the Letourneau Yellow Jackets Saturday, November 21 at 4 pm.

After a late gut wrenching loss to Southern Arkansas, The Lions are ready to move forward and look to a matchup against the Yellow Jackets. The Lions (1-2) played a strong game overall but relaxed too soon by blowing a 15 point lead in the fourth quarter with 7:22 left in the game. Defensively, the Lions have shown to be tough overall as they have increased their opponents' turnovers in each game forcing the opposition into an average of 17.3 turnovers per game. Amari Jones and Shomari Harris had big games both dropping 15 points in the home opener. Jones recorded the first double-double of the season for the Lions adding 13 rebounds to her stat line as well as shooting an impressive 5-of-5 from the stripe.

The Yellow Jackets fell to Millsaps last week 71-65. Letourneau (1-1) shot 37.1 percent from the field, 58.3 percent from the beyond the arc, and 80 percent from the free throw line including a perfect 7-of-7 in the second half. Letourneau largest lead on Millsaps was by 12 in the second quarter with eight minutes remaining. Millsaps bench outscored Letourneaus' bench 38-15 and lived in the paint beating out the Yellow Jackets 28-10. With 35 minutes played, Crystal Jones led the team in points with 19, and also accounted for six rebounds, two steals, and one block. Understudy Ashley Reed added 15 points, four assists, and a steal in the loss.

A&M-Commerce will need to guard the three better in this matchup, which will be a tall task since the Yellow Jackets just had a 7-of-12 night from the three point line against Millsaps and gave up eight threes to Southern Arkansas. This will be the first time these two clubs will meet since the 1996-97 season. The Lions won that game 92-85 inside of The Field House.
