Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Adams Career Night Lifts Lions over Bisons Thursday Night

Commerce, Texas – Anthony Adams went 10-of-15 from the floor and 5-of-6 from the free throw for a game-high 27 points to lead the A&M-Commerce men's basketball team to an 85-79 win over Harding in nonconference action to complete the season sweep over the Bisons Thursday night in The Field House.

Turning Point
- In a game that featured 13 lead changes and 10 ties, Adams drilled a corner three from the right side right in front of an erupting Lions bench to break the 10th and final tie of the game at 75.  Adams' triple gave the Lions a 78-75 lead with 1:29 left to play. It would be a lead the Lions would not relinquish thanks to another clutch isolation elbow jumper from Adams a minute later.

Highlights
- Adams also had six rebounds, four steals and three assists.

- Bryant Crowder followed with 17 points after going 8-of-13 from the floor.  Crowder hauled down 10 rebounds finishing with a double-double. He also swatted away six Bisons shot attempts.

- JR Owens tallied 16 points after an efficient 6-of-8 shooting from the floor.

- Jeremy Jones finished with 10 points as the final Lion in double digits.

- The Lions shot 51 percent from the floor in the game after going 46 percent in the first half and a sizzling 58 percent in the second half.

A&M-Commerce outscored Harding 38-19 in the paint.

Quotable
"Anthony Adams was the most impressive player on both ends of the floor tonight, but the best part of the night was that the guys protected our home floor." -- A&M-Commerce head coach Sam Walker.

Summary
1st Half
- Just like the first meeting between the two teams, Harding raced out to the early lead this time holding a 14-4 advantage four minutes into action.  The Bisons made six of their first eight shots in the game including a pair of three-pointers.

- Harding took its lead out to 12 points, 26-14, after a 3-pointer with 8:19 showing on the clock, but the Lions offense awoke and strung together an 18-0 run sparked by seven points from Owens including a 3-pointer to sparked the run.  By the time the run ended, the Lions held a six-point lead, 32-26, with 3:50 left in the half.

- Harding ended the half on an 11-3 run to take a 37-35 lead into the half.

2nd Half
- The second half was a back and forth affair that saw eight ties and 11 lead changes with neither team leading by more than five points.

- With the Lions leading 73-70 with 2:55 left following an Owens free throw, Harding knotted the game on the ensuing possession. Thirty seconds later, it was the Adams show. Adams was fouled driving to the basket and hit both free throws to give the Lions a 75-73 lead with 2:06 remaining.  Harding answered with a layup, but on the next Lions possession Adams was left open in the corner.  The hero for the Lions in game one, De'Andre Carson, hit Adams in the corner with the pass to set up the big shot.

- Harding scored on a quick two-pointer and Adams answered with a clutch jumper in the lane to regain a three-point lead for the Lions, 80-77, with 37 seconds left.  After a missed Harding triple, Adams was fouled, went to the line and sank both free throws to give the Lions a five-point lead, 82-77, with 19 seconds left to secure the 85-79 win over the Bisons.

Inside the box score
- Adams' 27 points was a new career-high for the senior guard.  His 10 field goal makes was also a career-high.  He had reach the 20-point plateau three times in his career with all three games finishing at exactly 20 points.

- Crowder collected his second double-double of the season and fifth for the Lions on the year. Ronnie White leads the team with three double-doubles.

- Crowder came up one block shy of matching the Lions single-game blocks record held by Nick Goellner, who had seven blocks against Texas A&M-Kingsville on February 5, 2005.
