Commerce, Texas— The Lions put on another show at The Field House by wining their fifth game this season by 20 or more points.

1st HalfThe Lions started off quickly in the matchup against Midwestern State. The Mustangs did regroup however, and cut the lead down to one point late in the first quarter 10-9. The Lions ended the first quarter with a 12-10 lead over the Mustangs.

The Lions opened up the game in the second quarter where they went on a dominating 14-0 run with just under four minutes remaining in the half. From that point on, the Mustangs only made three field goals before ending the half down 39-24. In the first half, the Lions shot 45.5 percent from the floor (15-of-33), while Midwestern State shot 25 percent from the floor (7-of-28) and 11.1 percent from downtown (1-of-9).
Khala Riley went into the half as the games leading scorer with nine points and had two steals in 11 minutes.
Artaejah Gay followed her lead with seven points on 3-of-4 shooting. Whitney Taylor was the leading scorer for the Mustangs with eight points. Krishawn Crockett chipped in another six for the Mustangs.

2nd HalfMidwestern State strikes the first blow after a jumper by Jennifer Sissel, sparking a 7-2 run by the Mustangs to begin the second half. Nevertheless, the Lions continued to dominate the paint, never losing their lead. The Lions ended the third quarter on a 10-2 run after
Gabby Scott nailed a corner three, giving the Lions all of the momentum entering the fourth quarter.

Although the fourth quarter was closer in scoring, the Lions ran away with the game improving their winning streak at home. The Mustangs went on a late 9-2 run, but that came to an abrupt stop after two treys by
Shomari Harris and
Natalie Hessong. The Lions finished the game shooting 41.9 percent (26-of-62) and dominated the painted area 38-16.

Khala Riley both had 14 points, which served as the game high in scoring.
Artaejah Gay landed her second double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds, while
Amari Jones was the final Lion in double-digit scoring with ten points. The Mustangs had three players in the double-digit scoring club, with 13 points from Whitney Taylor, 12 points from Krishawn Crockett, and Jennifer Sissel adding ten points of her own.
