Lawton, Okla. – After splitting with the Aggies in the first half of the series, the Lions lost a pair of low scoring games, 3-1 and 5-4, Saturday morning and dropped their first Lone Star Conference weekend series, 3-1, to Cameron.
Game 3: Cameron, 3, A&M-Commerce, 1Turning PointIn the bottom of the third inning, the Aggies scored two runs on three hits to take a 3-0 lead. The Lions pushed across a run in the fourth, but Cameron's two runs in the third held up to be the game sealing runs.
Inside the Box ScoreJohnna Sturm led the Lions in hitting going 2-for-3 and had one RBI when she doubled to left field.
Magen Lynch also went 2-for-3.
Brittany Woolridge and
Selena Rima split the game each pitching three innings. Woolridge had two strikeouts and faced 18 batters. Rima had six strikeouts and faced 15 batters. The duo allowed seven hits from the circle.
Summary4th InningLuci Ponce led off the inning and reached when she was hit by pitch after a 1-1 count.
Danielle Guerra pinch ran for Ponce and scored after Sturm doubled down the left field line for the Lions first hit of the game.
Game 4: Cameron, 5, A&M-Commerce, 4Turning PointAfter A&M-Commerce sprinted out a 4-0 lead after the first, the Aggies failed to score in the first two innings, but platted three runs in the bottom of the third. The Aggies picked up two more runs tying the game at one in the fourth and taking a 5-4 lead with a run in the fifth inning to clinch the series.
Inside the Box ScoreKylene Hatton hit a three run homer in the first inning to start the Lions off on the right foot. She finished 2-for-3 three RBI.
Cherie Jackson went 1-for-3 had one run and one RBI.
Magen Lynch had two hits in three trips to the plate including a triple.
