COMMERCE– The No. 14 Texas A&M University-Commerce softball team lost 12-3 to No. 6 Angelo State on Sunday. The Rambelles had three big innings and the Lions could not get their bats going to match.
The Lions fall to 35-8 on the season and 20-7 in the Lone Star Conference. ASU improves to 41-6 and 23-4 in LSC play.
The Lions finish the regular season with a road series against Texas Woman's University. The teams will play a single game at 6 p.m. on Friday and finish with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. All games will be played at Pioneer Field in Denton.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rambelles had two hits in the top of the first but the Lion defense was able to make a play at the plate to record the third out and keep ASU off the board. The Lions had a leadoff single in the bottom of the first but could not get a run across. The game was scoreless after one complete inning.
The Rambelles got on the board in the second inning. A single and three walks brought a run across. A groundout brought another run across and a double scored two more, bringing the score to 4-0.
The Lions brought a run across in the bottom of the second. Sims drew a walk and Horn pinch ran. Horn advanced on a passed ball and scored on a single from Neal. The Lions trailed 4-1 after two complete.
The Rambelles added three more runs in the third inning. A throwing error brought two runs across and another run came across on a single. The Lions drew two walks in the bottom of the inning but could not bring the runners around. ASU led 7-1 after three.
ASU added five runs in the fourth inning. Two leadoff singles and a hit by pitch loaded the bases. Two singles scored three more runs. An error brought another run home. The Lions scored another run in the inning. Cherry singled and scored on a triple from Nunez. The Lions trailed 12-2 after four innings.
Hebler came in in the fifth inning and struck out two to keep ASU off the board. The Lions scored one more run in the fifth. A single from Hebler was followed by a double from Jameyson. A run was brough across on a groundout by Kilcrease. The Lions could not make up the deficit and the game ended after five complete.
