The Lions are coming off of three home wins in the last week. Head coach
Craig Case liked how his team was able to defend its home court.
"You have to win at home if you want to be a championship level team," he said. "We did a good job of protecting our home court and playing at a high level. We were able to work on some things as well, with not having to travel as much. Hopefully some of those things we have been working on in those matches will help us win down the road."
The Lions now head to Stephenville to face rival Tarleton. With the storied history between the two programs, especially in the past few seaons, Case expects a heated match that will be a battle by both teams.
"I don't think anyone who is familiar with the Commerce and Tarleton rivalry is expecting anything but a crazy-intense match," he said. "I think we are going to have to go into a pretty hostile gym and environment and we are going to have to battle. That's the first thing we have to do. If we are playing great but are not ready to battle in that environment, we are not going to do very well."
The Lions then face DBU on the road. The Lions were able to sweep the Patriots at the Field House earlier this season, but Case knows it will be no easy task, as the Patriots are 9-2 on their home floor.
"I think the same thing is true for Saturday. We are going to have to battle against DBU," he said. "We are going to face a short turnaround. We have to make sure we are dialed in against both teams. They are two completely different teams in terms of how you have to prepare for them. But at the same time, they are very similar in that they are really talented, they play really well at home and both teams will be very motivated to beat us. It is going to be a tough weekend."
