COMMERCE – The Texas A&M University-Commerce men's basketball team fell 93-72 to No. 3 West Texas A&M on Saturday afternoon. The Lions kept with the Buffaloes early in the contest but could not hold serve in the final half to make a push back.
The loss brings the Lions to 16-10 on the season, and 12-8 in the Lone Star Conference. The Buffaloes improve to 27-1 and 19-1 in conference play.
The Lions will head on the road for their final two games of the regular season. They will begin by facing Oklahoma Christian on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. A&M-Commerce will then face Arkansas-Fort Smith on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Deonta Terrell (Chicago, Ill.) led the team with 20 points, while also leading the team with six rebounds.

Wayne Stewart (Philadelphia, Pa.) also finished in double figures with 10 points and six rebounds.

Darnell Wright (Chicago, Ill.) both had nine points while Josh WInbush (Lake Charles, La.) had eight points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The teams traded baskets early on as the first two minutes was neck and neck between the two squads. WT then went on a run to push their lead to seven points at the 11 minute mark. The Lions then went on a run, with Winbush putting in a tip in slam dunk. That was the start of a 7-0 run from the Lions to tie the game at 20 at the eight minute mark of the half.
The Lions briefly took the lead on an alley-oop slam dunk from Stewart, giving them a 22-21 lead at the seven minute mark. The Buffs then finished the half on a 19-3 run to take a 40-25 lead into the half.
Terrell had seven points for the Lions in the first half, while Stewart added six points.
The Lions cut the WT lead down to 13 points early in the second half before WT again went on a run to push their lead to 19 points at the 14 minute mark.
The Lions held serve for the next several minutes but could not cut into the Buff lead. West Texas A&M pushed its lead to as many as 28 late before the Lions had a 9-0 run to cut the lead under 20 points late.
