COMMERCE – After scoring on the longest play in program history, Texas A&M University-Commerce football team star
Alex Shillow is named this week's Under Armour Student-Athlete of the Week.
Shillow (Pflugerville) made a major impact for A&M-Commerce in its shutout of UT Permian Basin. He led the team with six total tackles and also scored a touchdown on a 100-yard interception return.
His 100-yard interception return for touchdown was 14th in Lone Star Conference history, 65th in NCAA Division II history and just the third in NCAA Division II this year. That play matched Cory Whitfield's 100-yard interception return for touchdown, which came in 2011 against Texas A&M-Kingsville.
The Under Armour Student-Athlete of the Week will be awarded by Lion Athletics each week through the remainder of the academic year.
