SHAWNEE, Okla. – One hundred and ten minutes of action did not separate the Texas A&M University-Commerce soccer team and Oklahoma Baptist. The teams tied 2-2 on Tuesday evening at the OBU Soccer Complex. Freshmen 
Kaitlyn Valaitis and 
Lydia Myers scored their first career goals.
 
The two teams combined for 40 shots, 19 of those were on goal. Oklahoma Baptist had the 26-14 advantage in shots and 11-7 edge in shots on goal.
 
The Lions end non-conference play with a record of 2-2-1 and the Bison now hold a record of 1-3-1. A&M-Commerce begins Lone Star Conference play next week.
 
Oklahoma Baptist opened up the scoring in the 39
th minute on a goal by Alanna Bloomingdale assisted by Ellie Frost. The Lions attempt to clear the ball was blocked by the Bison and Bloomingdale had a clear look at the goal.
 
The Bison had 12 shots in the first half, including six on goal. The Lions had four shots, three on goal. 
Jen Peters (Allen) played the first half and made five saves, 
Lauren Banning (Pflugerville) checked in at halftime and made four saves in the remainder of the match.  
 
A&M-Commerce tied the match in the 62
nd minute on a cross pass by 
Savanna Puccio (Plano) that was kicked above the reach of the Bison goalkeeper by Valaitis (Rowlett – Sachse).
 
The match was not tied for long as the Bison came right back to take a 2-1 lead in the 65
th minute. Kaylee Swaner scored on a goal by Hannah Evans.
 
The Lions did not flinch and tied it once again, just 35 seconds later as 
Lydia Myers (Colbert, Wash.) scored on a pass from 
Karalie Morrison (North Richland Hills – Colleyville Heritage).
 
The timespan between the three goals in the second half was 3 minutes and 41 seconds.
 
 
Neither team mustered up a goal for the remaining 25 minutes of the second half, sending the match into overtime.
 
It was the Lions' first overtime match since earlier this spring when they fell 4-3 in overtime to West Texas A&M. They went 1-1 in overtime matches this spring.
 
No shots went on goal in the first half, both shots were by the Bison. They had a corner kick as well. Both teams had a shot on goal in the second half, but neither ended up in the back of the net. Morrison had four shots in the match, three on goal. 
Leslie Campuzano (Garland – Lakeview Centennial) had three shots.
 
This is the first tied match for A&M-Commerce since the season opening match of the 2019 season at Westminster which was a scoreless draw.

The Lions begin Lone Star Conference play next Wednesday, Sept 22 at 7 p.m. on the road against No. 9 Dallas Baptist.
