COMMERCE – Texas A&M University-Commerce women's track and field athlete Maïa Maury has been selected as this week's Under Armour Student-Athlete of the Week after winning the pentathlon at the Washburn Open.
 
Maury (Noisy-Le-Grand, France) competed in the pentathlon for the first time in her career and won the event by a facility record of 3,407 points.
 
She won three of the five events, setting the second best mark in the high jump in the LSC, clearing 5' 4 ½" (1.64m). She had the eighth fastest time in the LSC in the 800 meter run, clocking in a time of 2:23.30. She timed 9.51 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles, which is 13^th best in the LSC. Her total of 3,407 points is third in the LSC this season and 16^th in the country.
 
The Lion track and field teams are idle this weekend, they head to Lubbock to take part in the Texas Tech Shootout on February 11-12.
 
The Under Armour Student-Athlete of the Week will be awarded by Lion Athletics each week through the remainder of the academic year.
