COMMERCE – Texas A&M University-Commerce women's basketball team's DesiRay Kernal is this week's Under Armour Student-Athlete of the Week after averaging a double-double in two games last week.
 
Kernal (Newton, Kan.) totaled 14 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and two steals in the win over Idaho last Wednesday and followed it up with a 13-point, 10 rebounds, and three assists performance at Mississippi State on Sunday night.
 
She is third in the Southland Conference with an average of 7.8 rebounds per game and 21^st in scoring with an average of 8.7 points per game. The Lions are second in the conference in scoring and rebounding.
 
Following finals break, the Lions take part in the UTRGV South Padre Island Classic next week against Bowling Green on Monday at 3 p.m. and Boise State on Tuesday at 3 p.m.  
 
The Under Armour Student-Athlete of the Week is awarded by Lion Athletics each week during the academic year.
