Ushan Perera and
Sabrina Anguiano have been selected as Under Armour Student-Athletes of the Week this week.
Perera (Mahabage, Sri Lanka) won his third National Championship in the high jump on Saturday at the Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships. He cleared 7 feet 1.5 inches (2.17m) to become just the second athlete in school history to win three National Championships.
Anguiano (Riverside, Calif.) put together a historic weekend for the Lion softball team. She was retired just once in 11 at-bats and drew a walk as well. Anguiano hit team-leading three home runs, also driving in seven runs, and scoring eight runs herself. She helped the Lions go 4-0 last weekend.
The Lion track and field team begins the outdoor season next week at the Texas Relays on March 23-26, while the softball team hosts Embry-Riddle on Wednesday at 4 p.m., before heading to Midwestern State and Texas Woman's this weekend.
The Under Armour Student-Athlete of the Week will be awarded by Lion Athletics each week through the remainder of the academic year.
